Which should you choose?
Best native offline apps: Kanri or Super Productivity
If you want a native app outside the browser, install one of these. Kanri is a focused Kanban app for your desktop. Super Productivity is broader: it combines tasks with time tracking and runs on nearly every platform.
Best one-time purchase: Brisqi
If you'd rather not pay a subscription and you're happy with a paid app, Brisqi sells one-time plans. Check its pricing page for current prices.
Best inside your browser: KanbanTab
KanbanTab runs as a browser extension and continues to work offline, with optional cloud sync.
Best with nothing to install: kanban.fit
Open the page and start, with no download and no account. Your boards are saved in your browser and aren't uploaded. After your first visit it opens and saves changes with no connection, and you can install it from your browser or add it to your phone's home screen. Clearing your browser's site data deletes your boards, and there's no export yet, so it's less suited to anything you can't afford to lose.
Think twice about: Focalboard
The Focalboard repository says it's "currently not maintained". The app may still run, but consider something actively developed for anything long-term.
Questions to ask about any "offline" tool
- Can it start with no connection, or only keep running? Web apps often need a connection to load.
- Where exactly is the data? Look for a clear statement, not only "private".
- Can you back it up? Local data is your responsibility. Check for export, particularly if you'd struggle without your boards. kanban.fit doesn't have export yet.
- Is it still maintained? Check the date of the latest release.
